Wooden French
Doors
Without a doubt, wooden French
doors are probably the most esthetically pleasing
when it comes to choosing the material you would like to have
your doors made out of. Although, upvc French doors are
more dent resistant and perhaps have a longer shelf life, the
quality that goes into wood built doors tends to stand the test
of time and create a more classy feel within your home or even
as a patio door.
Wooden French doors tend to be more classy in appearance as
you often can see the grain in the wood even after they have
been treated with paint. This gives a warmer feeling to
whichever rooms the doors divide. Other types of material comes
across as more functional rather than stylish. Most people
choose to buy their wooden French doors naked, without stain or
paint
with the purpose of coloring them to suit the rest of their
decor. More often than not they are painted the same color as
the wall color to blend in better and allow the French door
hardware to be the unique accessory.
Benefits of Wooden French
Doors
Light weight wooden French doors are fine for interior
doors. These will likely not require a central door jamb but
will latch into one another. The weather tightness of this type
of construction is not at all suited for outside doors at all.
Exterior French
doors will have a central door jamb that both doors
will latch to. A lot of direct exposure to the elements can
cause wood doors to warp and be damaged by the sun. So
choose wisely when deciding on what type of material you
would like your French door to be made of.
